1. What grades are eligible to play?
We offer Flag Football for players entering 1st–4th grade
We offer Tackle Football for players entering 4th–8th grade
Grade levels are based on the grade your child will enter in the fall of 2025
2. When does the season start and end?
Practices begin Monday, July 28th. First game is scheduled for August 16th.
Games are held on weekends from mid-August through early October
The season runs for about 8-9 weeks
3. What equipment is provided?
Flag players receive a team jersey and flag belt
Tackle players are provided a helmet, shoulder pads, and game uniform (jersey & pants)
4. What equipment do players need to provide themselves?
Flag players need:
Cleats
Mouthguard
Tackle players need:
Cleats
Mouthguard
7-piece Girdle
Gloves (optional but recommended for some positions)
5. Where are practices and games held?
Practices are typically held at A-O High School fields in Argenta
Games are played against other teams in the Little Illini JFL Conference Monday, July 28th (Listed on our 'About Us' page)—home and away games vary by week
6. Can my child play if they don’t attend Argenta-Oreana schools?
Yes! AOJFL is open to players from surrounding communities—you do not have to attend AO schools to play
7. What’s the time commitment?
Flag Practices are usually 2–3 evenings per week
Tackle Practices are up to 4 evenings per week
Games are held on Saturdays or Sundays, depending on scheduling
Parents should expect a regular weekly schedule with some travel for away games
8. Can I volunteer to help?
Yes! We're a volunteer-run league and always need help with coaching, concessions, scoring, chain gang, 50/50 ticket sales and more
